Problem of “computer age” is cut and paste; hate seeing cut and paste orders by High Courts: Justice DY Chandrachud

Supreme Court judge, Justice DY Chandrachud took exception to High Courts resorting to “cut paste” exercise while writing orders without giving solid reasons for their rulings.

Misrepresenting mangalik status not grounds for divorce: Bombay HC

First woman CJI is need of the hour, writes Olav Albuquerque

The learned CJI ignored that crimes like rape attract severe penalties under the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013. The Justice J S Verma Committee laid down that the law ought to specify that even a marital relationship could not be a defence against forced sexual intercourse.

India badly needs its first woman Chief Justice of India (CJI) and this post could be filled by Justice B V Nagarathna of the Karnataka high court in 2027, if she is promptly elevated .........

Keen to exclude time from 15 March 2020 to June 2021 from ambit of Limitation Act: CJI Bobde

The Supreme Court agrees with AG's suggestion to exclude 15 months' time from the Limitation Act's ambit.

SC relief for civil disputes in suo motu case on extension of time under Limitation Act.

AG to address ways of legal recourse to citizens if partial lockdowns imposed, said CJI.

A 3-judge bench of the Supreme Court has agreed with Attorney General (AG) KK Venugopal's suggestion to exclude time of around 15 months from the ambit of the Limitation Act, which will allow lawyers and litigants to file cases without being time barred for the period which has elapsed during the pandemic.........
